About Hakone Gardens
One of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s premier sites and 100 years old, Hakone is one of the oldest Japanese estate, retreat and gardens in the Western Hemisphere. Hakone has also been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2013. 18 acres of magnificent beauty is nestled in the verdant hills of Saratoga overlooking Silicon Valley.
Directions
Directions from San Francisco Travel southbound on Hwy 280. Take the southbound Hwy 85 exit. Take the second exit, Saratoga Avenue, to the right. Continue through downtown Saratoga (the Village). The entrance to Hakone is several hundred yards beyond the end of the Village, on the left-hand side.
Directions from San Jose Travel northbound on Hwy 280 or northbound Hwy 85. Take the Saratoga Avenue exit west (left). Continue straight to downtown Saratoga (the Village). As you leave The Village, Hakone is on the left side.
Directions from the East Bay Travel southbound on Hwy 880, which turns into Hwy 17 toward Santa Cruz. Take the Hwy 85 exit, north. Take the first exit, Saratoga Avenue exit, west (left). Continue straight through downtown Saratoga (the Village). The entrance to Hakone is approximately 1/8 mile beyond the Village, on the left-hand side.
